British junior health minister Nadine Dorries said on Tuesday that she has tested positive for the new coronavirus.
She added that she has been in self-isolation since her infection was confirmed.
Dorries is a Conservative member of the lower chamber, the House of Commons.
British media reported that she was involved in drawing up legislation to fight the coronavirus outbreak. It added that she worked in Parliament and attended a reception with Prime Minister Boris Johnson after showing symptoms.
Health officials are checking whether anyone who had contact with her are infected.
