Undocumented Myanmar workers repatriated from Thailand

Kawthoung, 23 October

102 Myanmar illegal migrant workers—90 men, 10 women and two children—were handed over to Myanmar authorities in Kawthoung by Thai immigration officials by boats via Ranong of Thailand on 22 October.

The Myanmar migrant workers were detained for crossing the border and living in Thailand illegally. They were returned back to Myanmar after being taken action by Thai officials. The returnees were welcomed by concerned officials from the General Administration Department, the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Anti-Human Trafficking Police, the Department of Labour and the Department of Disaster Management.

Local authorities provided healthcare services to the returnees and gave necessary assistance to them in order to come back to their home in a safe and secure manner.
