Union Government holds 2019 Waso robes offering ceremony at Uppatasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw

The Union Government held a Waso robe offering ceremony for 2019 at the Sasana Maha Beikman, Uppatasanti Pagoda, Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning. President U Win Myint, First Lady Daw Cho Cho and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi donated Waso robes and offertories to the Members of the Sangha.

 

The event was graced by Sayadaws and Sanghas led by Chairman Sayadaw of State Sangha MahaNayaka Committee Bhamo Sayadaw Dr BhaddantaKumarabhivamsa.

 

Before the ceremony, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi paid homage to the Buddha Image at the pagoda and offered food, fruits, flowers, water and lighted candles. The Waso Robe Offering Ceremony for 2019 held by the Union Government began with the President, First Lady, the State Counsellor and the congregation receiving the Five Precepts given by the Chairman Sayadaw of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Bhamo Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Kumarabhivamsa, after which they listened to the parittas recited by Members of the Sangha.

 

Afterwards, President U Win Myint and First Lady Daw Cho Cho offered Waso robes to Bhamo Sayadaw Dr Kumarabhivamsa.

 

State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi offered Waso robes and offertories to Secretary Sayadaw of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Secretary Sayadaw AggaMaha Pandita Bhaddanta Sandimabhivamsa.

 

Next, Vice President U Myint Swe and wife Daw Khin Thet Htay offered Waso robes and offertories to Vice Chairman Sayadaw of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Sayadaw Bhaddanta Satetranyana, Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw Mahn Win Khaing Than’s wife Nant Kyin Kyi to Vice Chairman Sayadaw of the committee Sayadaw Bhaddanta Sumingala Bivamsa, Union Chief Justice U Htun Htun Oo to Vice Chairman Sayadaw of the committee Sayadaw Bhadanta Agga Dhamma, Chairman of the Constitutional Tribunal of the Union U Myo Nyunt and wife Daw Htay Yee, Chairman of the Union Election Commission U Hla Thein and wife, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife, Deputy Speaker of Pyithu Hluttaw U Tun Tun Hein and wife, Union Ministers, Union Attorney-General, Union Auditor-General, Chairman of the Union Civil Service Board, Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, Chairman of Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air Force), Chairman of Public Accounts Committee, Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command, Deputy Ministers and Nay Pyi Taw Council members offered Waso robes to the Members of the Sangha. Afterwards, the congregation listened to the sermon delivered by Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Sandimabhivamsa.
