Union Minister Dr Myo Thein Gyi joins 4th ICAIT via videoconferencing

Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi took part in the first-day event of the 4th International Conference on Advanced Information Technologies through videoconferencing yesterday. In his discussion, Union Minister Dr Myo Thein Gyi said that “Internet of Things (IOT)”, “Big Data”, artificial intelligence and robot technologies are replacing human workers, so nations are implementing Education 4.0 which will be compatible with Industry 4.0. The Union Minister continued that the capacities of teachers are being enhanced by using digital technology. Teachers began to use digital technology in teaching their students, said the Union Minister.


The Union Minister said that policies, projects, creating jobs and creating suitable environments for life-long learning are very important in making efforts to improve the quality of education. He added that the COVID-19 pandemic has seriously affected many sectors of the world, including education. He stressed the need for infrastructure and technology to make effective COVID-19 response and recovery.


The Ministry of Education has established the Myanmar Digital Education Platform (MDEP) to provide online lessons for students. Educational TV programmes have also been broadcast. The Union Minister said that students in far-flung areas with limited access to the Internet could learn digital lessons by using the DBE Boxes and DBE Sticks provided by the ministry.


He continued that Myanmar will encourage the upgrading of university curriculums to meet the 21st century skills. The two-day event read and discussed 41 papers of international and local universities. —MNA
