Union Minister for H&T attends ASEAN Tourism Forum 2020, related meetings

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Ohn Maung visited booths on Myanmar tourism destinations promotion, booths of ASEAN member states and the business activities of international hotels and tourism companies at the Empire Brunei Hotel in Bandar Seri Begawan of Brunei Darussalam on 14 January.


At his meeting with US-Business Council (US-ABC), he discussed evolution of Myanmar’s hotel and tourism industry, promotion of digital-based tourism and technology assistance from US-ABC. The Union Minister attended the dinner marking the opening ceremony of ASEAN Tourism Forum 2020.


Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Ohn Maung took part in 23rd Meeting of ASEAN Tourism Ministers (23rd M-ATM) and attended the Cambodian Night held by Cambodia on 15 January.


The next day, he participated in the 19th Meeting of ASEAN+3 Tourism Ministers where future work programs were approved. In the afternoon, he attended the meeting between the Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Brunei and ASEAN Tourism ministers at the Istana Nurul Iman and the press meet of ASEAN plus Three tourism ministers.


He attended the award-presenting ceremony and closing ceremony of the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2020.


Thingaha Hotel (Nay Pyi Taw), Hilton Hotel (Nay Pyi Taw), M Gallery Hotel (Nay Pyi Taw), Yadanabo Home (Mandalay) and Sanctum Inle Resort (Shan State) of Myanmar won ASEAN Green Hotel award, Loikaw, Dawei and Taunggyi won ASEAN Clean Tourist City award, Myeik and Myaing destinations won ASEAN Sustainable Tourism, and Wyndham Grand Yangon Hotel (Yangon) and M Gallery Hotel (Nay Pyi Taw) won ASEAN MICE Venue award.


The Union Minister also met the general secretary of ASEAN-Korea Center. Cambodia will host the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2021 under the topic “ASEAN – A Community of Peace and Shared Future”. (Translated by KyawZinTun)
