Union Minister receives donation for prevention, containment and treatment of COVID-19

Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe, in his capacity as the Secretary (2) of the National-Level Central Committee for Prevention, Control and Treatment for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), received the donations for prevention, containment and treatment of the disease in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.


Firstly, Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin explained the donations that the country had been under control from the COVID-19 to some extent at present and he thanked all the staff and responsible persons from the Ministry of Health and Sports and he said that those financial assistance and hospital supplies were from the companies and organizations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Myanmar embassies in foreign countries, offices of Myanmar Permanent Representative abroad, 9 Myanmar Consulate Offices and companies and organizations abroad. He continued that Myanmar still needs to be cautious carefully although the spreading of the disease was under control with the cooperative efforts; and the donations not only could be used for the COVID-19-related patients but also would be beneficial repeatedly as it provided the better health care for long term. Then, he thanked all the relevant officials for helping to receive the donations.


Myanmar Embassies, Myanmar Permanent Representative Offices and 9 Myanmar Consulate Offices donated K1.5 million and US$6,700, Ministry of Foreign Affairs donated 3,000 N 95 masks and 10,000 surgical masks, Kunming Cuicai Trading Co.Ltd from China donated K18,587,000, Thailand-based ZMW Solution CEO U Zaw Moe Win donated 30 personal protective equipment (PPEs) and 300 face shields, Japan YUAI Foundation, Amazing Asia Association and Yoshinosato (Health and Welfare) Group from Japan donated 14,900 masks. 


The donations were accepted by the Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe, the Deputy Minister Dr Mya Lay Sein and Permanent Secretary Professor Dr Thet Khaing Win, through the Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin, and then certificates of honour were given in return.
