Union Peace Conference Central committees discuss preparations for 21st Century Panglong

THE Central committees on organizing the fourth session of the Union Peace Conference – 21st Century Panglong held a coordination meeting at the Ministry of Office of the State Counsellor in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday


During the meeting, Deputy Minister for Office of the State Counsellor and Secretary of the Central Committee on Organizing the Fourth Session of the UPC – 21st Century Panglong, U Khin Maung Tin, said the central committee meeting was held on 30 June led by its Vice Chairman and Union Minister U Kyaw Tint Swe. He said they have distributed the decisions and brief information about the meeting made by various working committees. He said they have received the submitted plans from the working committees and will discuss their decisions made at their meetings and implementation plans drawn to their duties.


The Deputy Minister said the Fourth Session will be organized at Myanmar International Convention Centre I and II with a reduced invitation list. He said since the event has to be organized in line with COVID-19 prevention measures, there will be more planning involved and more work to carry out. He urged the committees to clearly discuss the additional workload, cooperation processes and reforms for each committee. 


Director-General U Zaw Htay from the Department of Union Peace Formation, under the Ministry of Office of State Counsellor, explained the preparations necessary for convening the fourth session of the Union Peace Conference. 


This was followed by Director-General U Min Thein of the Protocol Department, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, explaining the work of the invitation working committee, Director-General U Zaw Naing of the Ministry of Planning, Finance and Industry explaining the finance working committee, Permanent Secretary U Ye Naing of the Ministry of Border Affairs explaining the welcoming and accommodation working committee, Managing Director U Thurein Win of Road Transport Administration Department explaining the transport working committee, Permanent Secretary U Myo Aung of Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee explaining the ceremony preparation working committee, Director-General U Thein Htay Oo of the Ministry of Border Affairs explaining the hall placement working committee, Director-General U Maung Maung Kyaw of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism explaining the catering working committee, Chief of Myanmar Police Force Police Lt-Gen Aung Win Oo explaining the security working committee, Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung of the Ministry of Information explaining the news and records working committee, Director-General Dr Soe Oo of the Ministry of Health and Sports explaining the health working committee, and Director-General U Kyaw Lwin of the Ministry of Office of State Counsellor explaining the coordination working committee.


Afterwards, the attendees engaged in general discussions after which the Deputy Minister for Office of State Counsellor delivered the closing speech and concluded the meeting. 


Also present at the meeting were Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications and Chairman of the transport working committee U Kyaw Myo, permanent secretaries who are also secretaries of the various working committees, the Chief of Myanmar Police Force, directors-general, managing directors, deputy directors-general, and other officials.
