US President Donald Trump says his special envoy for the Middle East, Jason Greenblatt, is leaving his post.
Trump made the announcement on Twitter on Thursday, without mentioning when and why the envoy will resign.
Greenblatt has been involved in efforts to develop a US peace plan for Israel and the Palestinians.
But the Palestinians are critical of the US-led peace plan.
They say the United States is trying to conciliate them with a huge amount of money and make them accept a peace deal that affirms Israel's occupation.
The Trump administration says it will announce its peace plan for the Middle East after Israel's general election scheduled for September 17.
