A magnitude-7.7 earthquake struck off Jamaica on Tuesday. The Jamaican government is urging residents to stay away from the ocean.
The US Geological Survey says the earthquake struck about 100 kilometers off Jamaica at around 7:10 UTC.
The focus of the quake was estimated at a depth of about 10 kilometers.
The governments of Jamaica and Cuba have not received any reports of major damage or injuries.
