Vietnam's int'l arrivals hit 3 mln in first 2 months of 2024

Vietnam welcomed over 3 million international arrivals in the first two months of 2024, an increase of 68.7 percent year on year, data released by the General Statistics Office (GSO) showed on Thursday.

The number reached 98.5 percent of the arrivals seen in the same period in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic, said the GSO.

During the period, foreign arrivals to Vietnam by air reached nearly 2.6 million, accounting for 84.2 percent of the total, followed by road with 12.8 percent and sea routes with 3 percent, respectively.

Most of the arrivals were from Asia with over 2.3 million arrivals, surging 77.8 percent year on year, the data showed.

Revenues from tourism services during the cited period reached 9 trillion Vietnamese dong (365.2 million U.S. dollars), rising 35.8 percent year on year.
