Visitors flocked to Akauk Taung in Kyangin Township, Hinthada District, Ayeyawady Region on Monday morning.
The Akauk Taung is located on Pathein-Monywa Highway Road near Htonebo Town, which is the native town of Thakhin Mya, and visitors can reach there by both car and ship. It is 16 miles far from Kyangin Town, and most pilgrims go to the region using marine transportation. Visitors choosing marine transport can see countless Buddha images on the cliff of the Ayeyawady River’s
bank.
Akauk Taung has several well-known pagodas and temples, including the Shwemyintin pagoda, Naungtawgyi pagoda, Naungtawlay pagoda, thousands of Buddha images on the cliff, Nagatwin, a waterfall, and Nyaungkoepin, among others.
