For the coming Academy Award ceremony for 2019, 2020 and 2021, The Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM) gathered some people’s expectations about their favourite actors and actresses.

I have to say that I haven’t watched the academy award ceremony for three years. I have to say that it is because of Covid and some other reasons. I read in the news that the academy award ceremony will be held in Nay Pyi Taw. I want my favourite actors and actresses to win the awards and I hope they will.

THE heartbeat for the academy awards is not as attractive as it was in previous years. I'm not much excited about it. I would be happy if my expectations for my favourite actors and actresses were rewarded.

I want all the actors including Yan Aung to get academy. Among the actresses, I expect Shwe Hmone Yati and Wutt Hmone Shwe Yi would get the award. For senior actresses, I want May Than Nu and Soe Myat Thuza to win the academy.

I want to pray for all actors and actresses, who are beloved by our public audience, to be presented with the academy awards. That’s what we have all been waiting for for a long while. It would be much happier if film stars would get double or triple rewards as the event is meant for three-year awards. I do pray for all artistes including supporting performers.

There is a large number of films to be chosen for the academy awards.
I don’t know how many films will be short-listed. In the past, the award ceremony was held once a year and so I remember the number of films I saw in a year. Now I don’t remember how many.

I want all the deserving actors and actresses to get the academy awards. Screenplay and script awards also cost a lot of investment, and producers are suffering losses because of Covid, so if they win an Academy Award, it’s worth it.
