Fortunately, I have a chance to take part in State Administration Council (SAC) Member, Dr Hmu Thang’s Chin land tour from 12 to 19 September 2023. The Chin land of Myanmar has a rich cultural heritage and a diverse population. It has also faced many challenges. To ensure peace and promote the development of Chin Land, it is crucial for the people to come together, unite as one, and work to words a common goal.
We are one in Chin can serve as the people of Chin Land to stand together, regardless of their ethnic background, religion (or) political affiliation. This unity can be the foundation for building a peaceful and prosperous Chin Land. To achieve peace and Development, dialogue and reconciliation must be prioritized. It is essential for different stakeholders, such as government, ethnic armed groups, civil society organizations, religious leaders and community leaders, to engage in open and honest conversations. This dialogue should aim to address the root causes of conflicts, find common ground and explore mutually beneficial solutions.
Furthermore, development initiatives should be implemented to uplift the socioeconomic conditions of Chin land. Investments in infrastructure, education, health care, agriculture and cooperatives can create employment opportunities improve living standards and reduce poverty. In addition, the people of Chin land should also take ownership of their own development. This can be achieved through community-based institutions, entrepreneurship and the preservation of their cultural heritage. Empowering local communities to actively participate in decision-making processes and providing them with the necessary resources and skills can foster a sense of ownership and ensure sustainable development.
Moreover, it is vital to promote inclusivity and mutual respect for each other in Chin land. This requires strengthening institutions, promoting the rule of law and ensuring access to justice for all. Regional Collaborations can play a significant role in supporting the peace and development of Chin land. Engaging with government, international organizations and local organizations can provide opportunities for knowledge exchange, technical assistance and financial resources.
During the Chin Land Tour, SAC Member Dr Hmu Thang addressed the five-point roadmap and nine objectives of SAC as well as highlighted “We are one in Chin”. Then Chin State Chief Minister Dr Wong Hsum Thang already mentioned food safety and food security as well as the integrity of Chin land. Lastly, achieving peace and development in Chin land requires a collective effort from all stakeholders. By uniting as one in Chin and fostering dialogue, investing in development, promoting inclusivity and seeking regional and international collaborations, the people of Chin land can pave the way for a brighter future.
In conclusion, I would like to honour the CHIN land for the following words, C for creation, H for Honesty, I for Integrity and N for Nurture.
