Woman killed in train-motorcycle accident in Taungdwingyi

One woman has died when a train struck a motorcycle she was on in Taungdwingyi Township, Magway Region on 9 September.

The accident between the train and motorbike took place yesterday near a level junction between Pakyel and Koepin railway stations near mileposts 240/20 and 240/21 in Taungdwingyi Township, Magway Region. The motorcyclist identified as Ma Nilar Win, 35 years old with her mother Daw Than Myint, 67 years of age hit the train operated by locomotive driver U Tin Maung Tun while they were crossing the level junction.

The motorcyclist was slightly injured and the woman was pronounced dead on the spot. An investigation into the case is ongoing by the local police.—Naing Win (IPRD)
