Xi and Kim's previous summits

20 June

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has held four summits with Chinese President Xi Jinping since March 2018.

Kim has had more meetings with Xi than any other foreign leader. He visited China for all four summits.

Their first summit was held in March last year in Beijing. This was Kim's first visit abroad and his first summit since he officially became North Korea's leader in April 2012.

Kim also went to China in May and June last year. He held his first summit with US President Donald Trump on June 12 before his third meeting with Xi.

In January this year, Kim met Xi again to discuss the second US-North Korea summit that was held in February.

Kim reportedly asked Xi to visit North Korea to mark 70 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries. Xi is said to have willingly accepted the invitation.
