XII ASEAN Paralympic Games: Myanmar wins more medals in track & field, swimming, weightlifting

Myanmar secured more medals in the track and field, swimming and weightlifting as the sport events were held at Morodok Techo National Stadium Complex, and various stadiums in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on 6 and 7 June.


Myanmar’s Aung Tun Lin grabbed one gold medal while Tin Nyo garnered the silver medal during the Men’s Petanque Event of the track and field held at the Morodok Techo National Stadium Complex.


Similarly, Maung Lin picked one silver medal for Myanmar during the Men’s 400-Metre event of track and field, while Wai Wai Thin gained one more silver in the Women’s 200-metre event.


Likewise, Sithu Htet won one silver medal for Myanmar in the Men’s javelin event and Soe Pe secured one bronze medal in the Men’s 400-metre event of track & field.


In the women’s 200-metre event, Nanda Lin grabbed another bronze medal for Myanmar.


Next, weightlifting competitions were held at National Paralympic Committee Hall and Myanmar’s Win San Aung won one silver medal in the Men’s 72 kg Total Lift Event, and one bronze in the Men’s Best Lift Event.


Meanwhile, Myanmar’s Min Zaw Win secured one bronze medal in the Men’s 80 kg Total Lift event.


In the Men’s 200-Metre Swimming Event held at Morodok Techo National Stadium Aquatic Centre, Myanmar’s Aung Myint Myat won one silver medal while Soe Win garnered one bronze each in the men’s 200-metre and men’s 100-metre events.


In the Men’s 50-Metre Swimming Event, Kaung Myat Kyaw secured one more bronze for Myanmar.


After the competitions, the awarding ceremony continued, and the gold, silver and bronze medallists were awarded by Maj-Gen Hla Moe, chairman of the Myanmar Paralympic Sports Federation and officials.


Myanmar competed in Chess, Swimming, Volleyball, Goalball, Weightlifting, Football, Table Tennis, and Track and Field on 7 June.


Myanmar has secured 14 gold medals, 22 silver medals, and 18 bronze medals totalling 54 medals until now. — MNA/KZL
