Yangon beat Hantharwady 1-0 in MNL U-21 tourney

25 July

YANGON United U-21 team defeated Hantharwady U-21 1-0 in Week-18 of the Myanmar National League 2019 at Padonmar Stadium in Yangon yesterday.

The win depended upon the single goal scored by Nyein Chan Soe in the first half play.

Although Hantharwady is a good team, in terms of playing and talent, as well as using experienced local youth footballers, they were unable to make quick decisions on the attack line in yesterday’s match.

Yangon United launched their attack from the kick-off, scoring the opening goal, which was the winning goal, at 21 minutes when the team was awarded a corner kick by Thein Kyaw Htay in front of the goal area, and Yangon’s Nyein Chan Soe kicked the ball directly into the net.

Leading with one goal, Yangon did not slow their speedy play and sought another opportunity for a goal just before the end of the first half. The chance was also found by Nyein Chan Soe, but his kick was blocked by Hantarwady’s goal keeper
The second half was as exciting as the first, with frequent attacks by Yangon United.

Yangon made substitutions at 79 minutes, as Kyaw Min Htay was substituted for Nay Ye. At 80 minutes, Nay Ye Han tried to drive to the net from 18 yards, though his shot missed the right post.

Neither team could score a goal in the remaining minute of the match, and the win went to Yangon United at the final whistle.
As for the win, Yangon United (U-21) could manage at second place with 36 points from 17 plays, 11 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses.— Lynn Thit (Tgi)
