The animals from the Yangon Zoological Gardens are systematically taken care of to prevent them from being harmed by the extreme temperatures, according to U Than Myint Tun, warden of the Yangon Zoo.
The Yangon Zoological Gardens hosts a total number of 1,065 animals of 135 species.
U Than Myint Tun said, “We take care of them to have enough water to drink and use. We fill water, splash water and keep their places cool. For their food, we prepare the solution of BPI oral rehydration salts for the animals, and we feed them juicy fruits like watermelons to prevent them from experiencing extreme heat. We also check their health conditions with the veterinarians. If an animal suffers from heat, it will be like a human’s illness. But we don’t have that kind of case as we prevent our animals from the heat.”
The entrance fees for the Yangon Zoological Gardens are set at K2,500 for adult, K1,500 for child, K7,000 for foreign adult, and K5,000 for foreign child. Additionally, monks and nuns are granted free entry to the zoo.
The security of the zoo is planned with the projects for the citizens to relax peacefully and safely. — ASH/TRKM
