Yemen's Houthi rebels attack Saudi airport again

24 June

Yemeni rebels have made another attack on an international airport in neighboring Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi state-run news agency says the Abha airport in the southwest of the kingdom was struck on Sunday evening by the Houthis. It says one person was killed and seven wounded.

The Houthis told local media the drone attack was in retaliation for Saudi Arabia's military intervention in Yemen's civil war.

The Houthis have repeatedly launched drone and missile strikes on key Saudi Arabian infrastructure facilities.

Twenty-six people were injured in another attack against Abha airport on June 12.

The actions of the Iran-aligned Houthis are likely to flare tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia, amid Iran's already heightened military tensions with the United States.
