THE Myanmar national football team will take on the Afghanistan national football team in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualification group match at the Thuwunna Youth Training Centre at 5 pm today.

Myanmar will play its remaining two group matches of the third-round qualifiers this month away from home. However, Afghanistan cannot host matches in their home country. Although the match was initially planned to be held in Qatar, it was later decided to stage the game in Myanmar due to the situation in some Middle Eastern countries.

The Myanmar team is coached by Myo Hlaing Win, who has been preparing the squad with 28 preliminary players, while Afghanistan changed its head coach before the match.

In their previous meeting, Myanmar defeated Afghanistan by two goals to one. After four matches, Myanmar has six points, while Afghanistan has two points. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
