Kyunhla Township in Sagaing Region, a predominantly agricultural area, produces a wide range of crops in addition to rice. According to the Township Agriculture Department, more than 2,700 acres of various perennial crops have been planted across the township.
“The most commonly cultivated perennial crops in Kyunhla Township include sterculia foetida, mango, dragon fruit, banana, guava, lemon, lime, betel vine, and plum trees. We are also working closely with farmers to encourage multi-cropping practices in perennial crop plantations,” said Daw Myint Myint Yi, the Township Agriculture Officer.
In total, Kyunhla Township has planted 2,719 acres of perennial crops, comprising 585 acres of herbs, 584 acres of sterculia foetida, 20 acres of palm, 233 acres of coconut, 206 acres of banana, 13 acres of areca nut, 54 acres of betel vine, 881 acres of fruit trees, one acre of star beans, and 142 acres of other non-edible plants.— Myo Win Nyo (Kyunhla)
