THE Myanmar Fight 31 traditional boxing tournament, held in commemoration of the Shwemawdaw Pagoda festival, took place yesterday morning at the Bago Region Indoor Stadium.
The event was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Traditional Myanmar Lethwei Federation, in cooperation with the Bago Region Traditional Lethwei Subcommittee, local well-wishers, enthusiasts, and the Department of Sports and Physical Education.
A total of 37 bouts were held, comprising 22 two-round contests, 12 three-round contests and three four-round challenge matches.
In the four-round challenge bouts, Myint Myat Maung (Bago Club) defeated Khun Min Min (Shwe Bar Lar/ Thaton), forcing his opponent to retire in the third round after sustained punches. Arka Bo (Bago Club) knocked out Ye Yint Mahn (Taung Zalap) in the second round, while Kyaw Naing Tun (Aphyu Yaung Thway Thit) and Kaung Htet Hein (Lone Chaw Club) fought to a draw.
After the matches, Federation President U Wunna of the federation presented cash awards to the athletes, while Chairman U Min Htut of the Bago Region Traditional Lethwei Subcommittee awarded certificates of honour. — Bala/ KZL
