ACCORDING to the Expressway Police Force, a total of 5,137 traffic offenders were taken action against on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway during the first four months of 2026.
From January to April 2026, 4,806 drivers were penalized for exceeding the speed limit, while 331 were fined for failing to wear seat belts.
The prescribed speed limits on the expressway are 100 kilometres per hour for private vehicles, 90 kilometres per hour for long-distance passenger vehicles, and 60 kilometres per hour for commercial vehicles.
In addition, during the same period from January to April 2026, a total of 52 road accidents were recorded on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, resulting in 32 fatalities and 63 injuries. — ASH/KZL
