TATMADAW has regained control of the Manda­lay-Indaw-Myitkyina route and officially reo­pened the link on 6 May. According to public opin­ion, this move will ease travel, accelerate the flow of goods, and foster better economic opportunities for the people.

Currently, Tatmadaw has established full con­trol over the entire trans­port artery, encompassing the following route: Man­dalay-Madaya-Thabeik­k y i n -Tagaung-Htig­yaing-Katha-Indaw-Maw­lu-Nantsee Aung-Mohnyin -Mogaung-Myitkyina.

Locals noted that the route connecting Mandalay to Myitkyina is fundamental to the development of northern Myanmar. With the road now operational, trans­port will be faster and more convenient, helping revitalize the socio-eco­nomic lives of local ethnic communities. In Myitkyi­na, where residents have been struggling with high inflation, locals are hope­ful that the reopening will lead to a significant drop in commodity prices.

Tatmadaw is report­edly working to repair buildings, houses, schools, roads, and bridges that were damaged along the route. — Htun Htun/ZN
