THE final day of the group stage and the quarterfinal matches of the 2026 ISTAF Sepak Takraw World Cup were held on 18 May in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In the quadrant event, the Myanmar team defeated the strong Thai team in the quarterfinals and advanced to the semifinals.
In the last group match, Myanmar beat China 2-0 and advanced to the quarterfinal. In playing against Thailand in the quarterfinal match, Myanmar secured a win in the first match with 17-16 and lost to Thailand with 6-15 in the second match. In the third match, Myanmar won over Thailand with a 15-12 result.
Semifinal matches will be held on 19 May (today) when Myanmar will face India. Host Malaysia will play against Vietnam in another semifinal match. — Shine Htet Zaw/TTA
