Myittha, May 28

Farmers in Myittha Township, Mandalay Region, have reported good yields and favorable market prices for this year’s summer sesame harvest.

According to local farmers, weather conditions during the 2026 summer sesame growing season were favorable from planting through harvest, resulting in higher yields per acre. White sesame is currently selling for more than K110,000 per basket, bringing good returns to growers.

U Kyaw Swar, a farmer from Ngasu Village in Myittha Township, said the limited rainfall during the early monsoon period helped sesame cultivation succeed this year.

Summer sesame is usually planted in March and harvested in early July. Farmers said this year’s crop has produced strong yields and good market prices.— Wa Wa Myint (Myittha)
