A Myanmar-Thailand friendship alms-giving ceremony, featuring the offering of rice and provisions to monks and the setting up of donation structures, was held on 30 May at the Naga Hnakaung Monastery in Tachilek, Shan State (East).

The ceremony aimed to further strengthen the friendship between Myanmar and Thailand, promote the propagation of the Buddha Sasana, and ensure the long-term perpetuation of the Sasana.

During the ceremony, guests from both Myanmar and Thailand took the Five Precepts from the Sayadaw of the Naga Hnakaung Monastery and listened reverently to Paritta recited by members of the Sangha from both countries.

People from the two nations also offered uncooked rice and offertories to 99 monks from Myanmar and Thailand.

Approximately 1,500 donors and residents from Tachilek, along with well-wishers from both Myanmar and Thailand, attended the event.— ASH/KNN
