MYANMAR’S roller-skating team won three gold medals and one bronze medal at the Jakarta International Roller-Skating Championships 2026 held in Indonesia from 29 to 31 May.
The team claimed gold medals in the 500-metre individual events in the senior, U16, and U18 categories. Myanmar also secured a bronze medal in the 10,000 metre relay event after competing against teams from Kazakhstan, India, Singapore and Indonesia in the qualifying round and Kazakhstan and India in the final.
More than 1,000 athletes from India, South Korea, Taiwan Province of China, Mongolia, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam and Kazakhstan took part in the tournament.
The Myanmar team, led by coach/player Ko Hein Zaw Thein and featuring athletes Maung Sit Paing Hmue and Maung Zeya Lin from Basic Education High School No 3 in Thakayta Township, returned to Yangon on Tuesday and received a welcoming ceremony from officials of the Myanmar Skating Federation, sports authorities, coaches, athletes and family members.
