UNION Minister for Ho­tels, Tourism and Culture U Maung Myint inspect­ed ancient structures and historic waterway sites in the Bagan cultural herit­age zone yesterday and reviewed ongoing preser­vation work.

 

In accord with the guidance of the Head of State, the Union Minister visited the Sinka brick monastery, where resto­ration is being carried out while preserving its origi­nal architectural features. He instructed officials to strictly follow conservation guidelines, procedures and preservation standards.

 

He also inspected ar­rangements for visitors at the Bagan Information and Training Centre in Old Ba­gan, which is operated by the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism.

 

During a separate in­spection tour the previous day, the Union Minister visited Aggatae Temple, Paungkukon Pagoda, the palace sites of King Anaw­rahta and King Kyansit­tha, and the reconstructed Bagan Golden Palace. He also examined the eastern moat section of the Bagan city wall, which forms part of Waterway No 1 near Put­talin Pagoda and Tharawut Gate, as well as conserva­tion work at Ananda Tem­ple and Htilominlo Pagoda.

 

In the afternoon, the Union Minister met rep­resentatives from the Un­ion of Myanmar Hoteliers Association (Bagan Zone), Myanmar Restaurants As­sociation (Bagan Zone), Bagan Tourist Guides As­sociation, Myanmar Tour­ism Transport Association (Bagan Zone), the Bagan Plastic Campaign group and officials from state-owned hotels at Heritage Hotel. — MNA/KZL
