Myanmar and Indonesia pledge to expand bilateral diplomacy, friendship, and strategic cooperation.

 

A DELEGATION led by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Mr Sugiono paid a cour­tesy call on President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing, at the Presidential Reception Hall in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.

 

At the meeting, they frankly exchanged views on the situation to provide necessary aid for Myan­mar to become a success­ful and peaceful nation, and the efforts of Myan­mar to enhance existing friendly ties with ASEAN.

 

They openly discussed the long-standing friendly nations and close partners between Myanmar and In­donesia since the time of their independence strug­gles, the current challeng­es and difficulties faced by Myanmar and its full confidence, and the effort to build a more developed and peaceful country.

 

They also empha­sized the requirements for each country to adopt a democratic system suit­ed to its own character­istics and culture, based on its national identity and traditions. Moreover, they talked about the sit­uation for Myanmar and Indonesia to promote and expand diplomatic relations, friendship, and cooperation between the two countries.

 

Also present at the meeting were Union Min­ister at the President’s Office U Khin Maung Yi, Union Minister for For­eign Affairs U Tin Maung Swe, Vice-Chairman of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Work Com­mittee Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and officials. The Indone­sian Minister of Foreign Affairs was accompanied by Director-General Mr Santo Darmosumarto of the Asia, Pacific and Afri­ca Department of the Min­istry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, officials, and responsible officials from the Indonesian Embassy to Myanmar.

 

After the meeting, the President and the In­donesian Foreign Affairs Minister had documenta­ry photos taken together with the attendees. — MNA/TTA
