COMMANDER - IN-CHIEF of Defence Ser­vices General Ye Win Oo received Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Lao People’s Army Maj-Gen Vanhthong Boudtavong at Zeyathiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.

 

At the meeting, they frankly discussed the fur­ther promotion of friendly relations and cooperation between Myanmar and Laos and the two armed forces, the improvement of diplomatic and military relations between the two countries, and the close cooperation in regional development.

 

Their discussions covered the exchange of goodwill visits, cultural troupes, sports teams and trainees between the two armed forces, the promotion of securi­ty, peace and stability in border regions including the Mekong river securi­ty, the gratitude to Laos for its humanitarian aid and rescue teams sent to Myanmar in the occur­rence of the Mandalay earthquake on 28 March 2025, the five principles of peaceful coexistence ex­ercised by Myanmar with neighbouring countries, and upholding Our Three Main National Courses by the Tatmadaw under the leadership of the gov­ernment.

 

They exchanged commemorative gifts and had documentary photos taken together with the attendees.

 

Also present at the meeting were Command­er-in-Chief (Navy) Admi­ral Htein Win and senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Com­mander-in-Chief. The Deputy Chief of the Gen­eral Staff of the Lao Peo­ple’s Army was accompa­nied by Deputy Director Col Mixay Phengsavath of the International Re­lations Department of the Lao People’s Army, Lao military attaché to Myanmar Col Viphaxay Chanthamath and offi­cials. — MNA/TTA
