INDIA will assist in the long-term preservation of Myanmar’s historic films and newsreel archives through the use of modern digital technologies, according to reports.

Representatives of Prasad Group, one of the world’s leading film restoration companies based in India, met officials from the Ministry of Information in Nay Pyi Taw on 9 June to discuss advanced preservation and restoration techniques.

The meeting was attended by officials from the Information and Public Relations Department and a delegation led by Prasad Group Chief Executive Officer Dr Prasad Rao Pasam.

Discussions focused on improving the storage and preservation systems for Myanmar’s film and newsreel collections housed in the Film Promotion Division’s archive, preventing the deterioration of valuable classic films, and restoring them using the latest digital technologies. Both sides also explored plans for long-term cooperation in film preservation.
