THE operating hours for the Myanmar-Korea Friendship Bridge (Dala) have been extended from the original 10 pm to midnight, according to Dr Myo Thaw, Yangon Region’s Minister for Electricity, Energy, Industry, and Transport.

He announced his decision during the parliamentary session on 22 June, in response to a question from Daw Swe Swe Win, a Hluttaw member representing Dala Township Constituency 1. She enquired about plans to extend the bridge’s operational hours to address health emergencies and social issues.

“Regarding the security of Yangon-Dala Korea Friendship Bridge, we are working systematically with local security forces. Therefore, I would like to convey through the Speaker of the Hluttaw that we are granting the extension of crossing hours until 12:00 midnight to facilitate better travel for the public,” said the minister.

This extension of operating hours is expected to significantly improve convenience for residents in Dala, Twantay, and surrounding areas, particularly for economic, social, and urgent medical needs. — TWA/ZN
