THE Maubin Township Department of Rural Development, under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, Ayeyawady Region, held meetings with local residents on the village concrete road projects completed under the Village Development Project (VDP) in Yaykyaw Village and Kanyinthonepin Village, Maubin Township, yesterday.
Maubin Township Department of Rural Development head U Tang Gyi and responsible officials explained to villagers in Yaykyaw Village and Kanyinthonepin Village the completion status of the development works, the utilization of project funds and the quality of the works, and received and discussed the views and suggestions of those in attendance.
The concrete roads constructed in the two villages are 430 feet in length, eight feet in width and six inches in thickness. Each village project was implemented by local residents themselves with the participation of the community, using VDP support funds of K15 million per village, and the projects have now been completed 100 per cent and are expected to improve transport for 304 households with a population of 1,270 in Yaykyaw Village and 189 households with a population of 745 in Kanyinthonepin Village, thereby contributing significantly to their socioeconomic development. — Sein Lwin (Rural)
