THE Yangon Region Directorate of Hotels and Tourism will hold competitions to promote and improve service standards at hotels, motels and guesthouses in Yangon Region.
The inspections will be conducted jointly with the Myanmar Hotelier Association (Yangon Zone), and winners will receive awards at the association’s annual meeting. Temporarily closed establishments and those operating for less than two years will not be eligible.
Officials said efforts are under way to raise hotels, motels and guesthouses to three- and four-star standards, with service quality, health and safety systems, and cooperation among relevant ministries, private associations and industry operators being essential for the sector’s long-term development. — ASH/ MKKS
