LITTERING will be strictly prohibited at Mount Zwegabin, a historically important and famous tourist destination in Kayin State, to keep the mountain clean and green, said the Tourism Hpa-an.
Mount Zwegabin is a precious natural heritage site that attracts both local and foreign tourists every year. Sadly, there has been an increase in littering along the trekking paths and the surrounding area at the foot of the mountain, impacting the environment and the beauty of the destination and the state’s tourism, it stated.
To be clean and green, Mount Zwegabin, the Kayin State Department of General Administration has issued a local order 3/2026, and according to it, a K50,000 fine is being imposed for littering, and 50 per cent will be rewarded to the person who can catch the litterer, and the rest will be used for funding the destination’s management team.
Those who violate the rule will be taken action under Section 188 of the Penal Code and prevailing laws, the Tourism Hpa-an mentioned in the announcement on 25 June.
Visitors were also requested to use designated litter sites and adhere to the “take back your trash” policy. — MT/ZS
