MYANMAR women’s national football team has been granted the opportunity to com­pete at the 20th Asian Games, which will be hosted by Japan. The women’s football tour­nament group draw will be held on 23 July.

 

Myanmar was add­ed to the competition after some teams with­drew, with the final list of participating teams announced on 10 July. A total of 12 teams, in­cluding Japan, North Korea, South Korea, China, Myanmar, Bang­ladesh, Taiwan Prov­ince of China, Hong Kong SAR, the Philip­pines, Thailand, Uzbek­istan and Vietnam, will compete in the wom­en’s football event.

 

The Asian Games will mark the second international tourna­ment for Myanmar’s new Japanese head coach Mitsuo Katoh. Myanmar women’s team previously com­peted once at the Asian Games in 2022, where they were eliminated in the group stage. — Nyi Myat Thawda/KZL
