THE Myanmar Fruit, Flower and Vegetable Producers and Exporters Association (MFVP) is working to raise the standards of Myanmar’s floriculture sector by introducing new technologies alongside its efforts to develop the country’s fruit industry.
Daw Chan Mya Nyein, an audit committee member of the MFVP’s administrative board and a member of the Flower Sector Development Working Committee, along with representatives of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI), attended the “Floriculture Development Training Course” from 20 May to 9 June in Kunming, China. During a 21-day visit, she had the opportunity to learn how advanced technologies are transforming flower cultivation in China.
Under the theme of integrating modern floriculture with tourism, participants studied China’s systematic flower cultivation practices and how the floriculture industry contributes to tourism development. They also learned how to transform raw flowers into value-added products to increase the market value,
Under the category of research, technology, and international property rights, participants learned how the Chinese government, along with relevant industry associations and universities, collaborates to produce research papers and secure international property rights for new genetic varieties and floral technologies. They also discussed regional networking and cultural exchange initiatives aimed at fostering long-term partnerships. — NN/KK
