MYANMAR plans to export 1.4 million tonnes of corn in the 2026-2027 financial year, with export earnings expected to exceed US$340 million, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
During the 2026-2027 financial year, Myanmar exported over 350,000 tonnes of corn in June, earning more than $97 million and surpassing the month’s export target, the ministry reported.
“For July, we have set a target of exporting more than 100,000 tonnes of corn, with expected export earnings of more than $26 million. We have also urged corn exporters to work toward doubling that target,” an official from the ministry said.
Myanmar corn is mainly exported to ASEAN countries, including Thailand and the Philippines, while neighbouring India also imports it based on domestic demand.
Under Thailand’s current import policy, Myanmar corn can be exported to Thailand duty-free from 1 February 2026 to the end of August 2026. — ASH/TH
