The 2024 Youth Forum under the theme “Enhancing the Role of Youth in Creating a Better Society” was held in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

 

Speaking at the event, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan, who is also Chairman of My­anmar Youth Central Commit­tee, said the forum intends to stimulate the youth to love their country, to participate in na­tional development procedures as a primary drive, to adore the nation and culture and to understand the rights and re­sponsibilities of a good citizen, to establish friendship and mu­tual understanding among the youths from different regions, to enrich the capacity of the young people and to create sus­tainable development with the participation of youths.

 

He also added that the short- and long-term plans would be drafted based on three-panel sessions for the comprehensive development of the youth sector, and all should participate actively in respec­tive sectors to create a pros­perous and promising society.

 

He then presented awards to the first, second and third winners in high school-level es­say competitions, and Deputy Minister U Zin Min Htet gave certificates of honour to donors.

 

Youths representing Kachin State performed a traditional dance, and Union ministers, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman, deputy ministers, officials, and youth representatives posed for a documentary photo.

 

After the discussions of the Youth Forum, Deputy Min­ister U Zin Min Htet present­ed certificates of honour to a representative of youths and young volunteers and made a concluding remark.

 

The Youth Forum featured educational opportunities and information to develop five kinds of strength, display of products and souvenirs of part­ner organizations, record pho­tos of youth development activi­ties, surveys, quizzes, awarding events and game programmes. — MNA/KTZH
