An inspection team conducted a surprise check of the pharmacies, medical stores and shops in Laymyethna Township in Ayeyawady Region recently, to ensure the quality of standards for hygienic food. 

The squad consisting of departmental officials from the General Administration Department, township development affairs committee and the Department of Consumers Affairs under the Ministry of Commerce inspected and confiscated some foods which were prohibited by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the Ministry of Health and Sports. 

The banned food will be confiscated and destroyed after seeking permission from the district level committee tasked with settling consumer’s dispute in the area.—Shwe Moe (Laymyethna)
