Over 8000 local people were evacuated to 20 temporary relief camps in Hpa-ann Township of Kayin State due to water level in Thanlwin River has reached 942 centimetres, exceeding the danger level of 750 centimetres.
Kayin State Real Estate Services Association donated K 1.00 million for flood victims from three relief camps. The donation was accepted by U Saw Tun Aung, Minister of Social Affairs of the Kayin State Government and handed over to victims of floods in the relief camps.
In addition, officials from Kayin State government, well-wishers and business persons provided rice, instant noddle and edible oil to flood victims from 20 flood relief camps. As of July 28, a total of 20 temporary relief camps are being opened in Hpa-ann Township and a total of 8616 flood victims including 4130 men and 4486 women are currently taking shelter at the relief camps.—District IPRD
