Paung, 12 August

Flood victims who were displaced after severe floods hit Paung Township of Mon State have returned home from relief camps, according to a community leader.

As water level of Thanlwin River has risen due to continuous rains, floods hit low-lying areas of Paung Township, and a total of 270 people from 79 households in the Township were temporarily evacuated to high land areas and were taking shelter at temporary relief centers in the Township.

Now, all people at the relief centers in the Township are returning to their homes as water level of Thanlwin River has receded. –Mon Mah lay (IPRD)
