Yegyi, 24 July
To ensure the safety of teachers and students, 36 Basic Education Schools in Yegyi Township, Kyonpyaw District of Ayeyarwady Region have been temporarily closed starting from July 22 to 24 as water level in Ngawan River rises, according to the Township Education officer’s office.
As water level of Ngawan River has risen due to heavy rainfall, a total of 36 schools including two Basic Education High Schools, eight Basic Education Middle Schools and 26 B.E.P.S. are temporary closed due to flood water from Ngawan River.
The students from the closed schools will be compensated for the missed lessons and will be given additional times to study their lessons every Sunday when the floodwater decreases.—May Thant Zin (IPRD)
