The private business firms will run out of raw materials at the end of next month and will suffer severe impacts in the following months if the global control measures failed to turn out significant results, Daw Khaing Khaing Nwe, the Secretary General of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry yesterday.

She made the comment at the meeting of government officials, labour groups and business owners of local and international firms.

The tripartite meeting decided to hold frequent meetings for solving possible impacts of COVID- 19 on the country’s economy.

At the meeting, representatives of foreign companies asked about rules and regulations of Myanmar government on the COVID-19, exchange of information, and collaboration of global countries, awareness on personal hygiene and travelling policy and publishing announcements of Ministry of Health and Sports on its Website in English.

Yangon Region Government’s Minister for Immigration and Human Resources Daw Moe Moe Su Kyi explained the government’s real-time announcements on the situation of COVID-19.

Local businesspersons called for cooperation of government and labour unions in facing against the consequences of the disease which has posed economic and social problems on their businesses.

The outbreak of COVID-19 has affected on garment industries, SMEs, tourism sector and production of fruits and vegetables of Myanmar.
