According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Myanmar Embassy in Japan and gener­ous donors provided food and medicines to Myanmar nationals living in the quake-affected area in Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan on 27 January.

 

Myanmar Ambassador to Japan U Soe Han and embassy staff visited Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, affected by the 7.6 mag­nitude earthquake that struck on 1 January and met Myanmar nationals to offer words of en­couragement.

 

Following this, the Myanmar Ambassador and his team pro­vided rice, cooking oil, foodstuffs, purified water, and medicines to 12 Myanmar women work­ing at an electrical equipment manufacturing plant in Shika, Ishikawa Prefecture, and 16 Myanmar women working at a food processing factory in Nanao, Ishikawa Prefecture.

 

The Myanmar Ambassador expressed happiness that no one had been injured and that My­anmar nationals had supported each other to overcome the chal­lenges posed by the earthquake. He also expressed gratitude to the Japanese locals who offered necessary assistance.

 

The Myanmar Embassy will investigate whether Myanmar nationals are in other quake-af­fected areas in Ishikawa Prefec­ture so that necessary assistance can be reached. — ASH/MKKS
