UNION Minister for Education Dr Chaw Chaw Sein, accompanied by officials, visited No 1 Basic Education High School in Kyaukme Township yesterday and met with teachers, students and students’ parents.
During the meeting, the Union minister stated that the government is prioritizing and supporting the education sector and is also providing teaching and learning aid materials.
She also highlighted the role of teachers’ and parents’ involvement in successfully realizing the policies of education, the responsibility of teachers regarding the teaching aspects for improving the Grade-12 pass rate, and the need for parents to provide guidance and supervision for their children outside of school hours.
She then mentioned the opportunities for those who do not want to attend Grade 12 after passing Grade 9 to learn advanced industrial, agriculture and livestock breeding subjects.
She stated that teachers are vital in the teaching sector and will have to attend capacity-building courses for their respective subjects in the summer. Those who cannot join the courses can learn through lessons broadcast on the Myanmar education channel.
The deputy minister appreciated the efforts to cooperate in activities aimed at reopening the schools. The teachers and parents asked questions regarding matters they wished to know about, and the Union minister and responsible officials coordinated and addressed them.
Union Minister Dr Chaw Chaw Sein and the party donated cash, school uniforms, books and stationery and backpacks to the officials of Kyaukme and Hsipaw townships’ education offices and students.
They also observed the peaceful learning session of primary students, provided them with backpacks and inspected the library.
On arrival at No 1 BEHS in Nawnghkio Township, the Union minister met teachers, students and parents. She then presented cash prizes to the teachers and students.
She inspected the classrooms and presented school uniforms, books, stationery and backpacks for the primary students.
Afterwards, she visited the Nawnghkio township basic education high school (Branch, Ommathi), and inspected the reconstruction processes. — MNA/KTZH
