UNION Minister for Education Dr Chaw Chaw Sein, accompa­nied by officials, visited No 1 Basic Education High School in Kyaukme Township yester­day and met with teachers, stu­dents and students’ parents.

 

During the meeting, the Union minister stated that the government is prioritizing and supporting the education sec­tor and is also providing teach­ing and learning aid materials.

 

She also highlighted the role of teachers’ and parents’ involvement in successfully realizing the policies of edu­cation, the responsibility of teachers regarding the teach­ing aspects for improving the Grade-12 pass rate, and the need for parents to provide guidance and supervision for their children outside of school hours.

 

She then mentioned the opportunities for those who do not want to attend Grade 12 after passing Grade 9 to learn advanced industrial, agricul­ture and livestock breeding subjects.

 

She stated that teachers are vital in the teaching sector and will have to attend capac­ity-building courses for their respective subjects in the sum­mer. Those who cannot join the courses can learn through lessons broadcast on the My­anmar education channel.

 

The deputy minister ap­preciated the efforts to coop­erate in activities aimed at reopening the schools. The teachers and parents asked questions regarding matters they wished to know about, and the Union minister and respon­sible officials coordinated and addressed them.

 

Union Minister Dr Chaw Chaw Sein and the party do­nated cash, school uniforms, books and stationery and backpacks to the officials of Kyaukme and Hsipaw town­ships’ education offices and students.

 

They also observed the peaceful learning session of primary students, provided them with backpacks and in­spected the library.

 

On arrival at No 1 BEHS in Nawnghkio Township, the Union minister met teachers, students and parents. She then presented cash prizes to the teachers and students.

 

She inspected the class­rooms and presented school uniforms, books, stationery and backpacks for the prima­ry students.

 

Afterwards, she visited the Nawnghkio township basic ed­ucation high school (Branch, Ommathi), and inspected the reconstruction processes. — MNA/KTZH
