Police members seized over 260000 stimulant pills worth K 5.2 billion in Pathein Township of Ayeyawady Region, according to the Myanmar Police Force.

 

A combined team comprising members of Anti-drug Squad searched a suspected powered schooner in the sea about 5 nautical miles northwest of Thephyu Island near Chaungtha Village in Pathein Township of Ayeyawady Region at 12:30 pm on March 1 and seized 262000 stimulant tablets worth K 5.24 million.

 

After making some interrogations, a combined team apprehended Maung Maung Lay in connection with the drug trafficking case at 3:00 pm on the same day in Ward-2 in the town of Shwethaungyan, Pathein Township.

 

In a similar incident, a combined team arrested Win Thein Tun and Linn Tun Han along with a powered schooner at about 5:00 pm on the same day in Tha Zin Village in the town of Ngwesaung, Pathein Township in connection with the case.

 

The culprits were prosecuted under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law and further investigation is underway, according to the Myanmar Police Force.—MNA
