Tachilek, 15 August
Due to heavy rainfall, low-lying areas of Tachilek Township, Shan State (East) have been submerged since August 13 at 7:30 pm.
Volunteers led by the District and Township Disaster Management Committee evacuated the residents and provided the recuse work to flood victims in the affected areas in the Township.
Currently, Ponetun, Tarlaw, Makahokhan, Wamkaung, Sansaing(A), Sansaing(B) and Mekhaung wards in the Township are hit by floods. Local authority opened a temporary relief centre at Aungmyat Hall for flood victims in the Township.
Volunteers including ward Administrators, Departmental staff, Fire Brigade, members of social organizations and well-wishers evacuated local people to safer places and provided them with drinking water, food and healthcare services.
According to the (13:00) hrs M.S.T on August 15 observation, the water level has reached 386 centimeters in Tachilek and nearly reach 390 centimeters of its danger level.—Than Zaw(IPRD)
